Curel Face Wash Review

Sure, here are some good points on the Curel brand:

  1. Products for sensitive skin: Curel specializes in products for sensitive skin, which is great for those who have trouble finding skincare that doesn't irritate their skin.
  2. Use of ceramides: Ceramides are naturally occurring lipids in the skin, and Curel products use ceramides to help restore the skin's natural barrier and improve moisture retention.
  3. Clinically tested: Curel products are clinically tested to ensure that they are safe and effective for sensitive skin.
  4. Hypoallergenic: Many of Curel's products are hypoallergenic, which means that they are less likely to cause an allergic reaction.
  5. Affordable: Curel products are reasonably priced and accessible, making them a great option for those on a budget.

Overall, Curel is a reputable brand that offers effective and affordable skincare products for those with sensitive skin.

Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming Wash

The Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash would benefit you if you’re looking for a gentle facial wash. Due to its mild foamy texture, it’s an ideal face wash for those with sensitive skin.

This face wash is formulated with humectants such as glycerin, propylene glycol, and maltitol, thus the Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash even performs extraordinarily on dry skin as well.

The Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming Face Wash comes in a white pump nozzle bottle with a minimal design on its front. The bottle is of average size and it even comes with a plastic cap to enclose the pump nozzle hence it is quite travel-friendly.

This face wash is a foaming type of face wash hence I was skeptical about using it on my dry skin, assuming it might strip my skin off.

Nevertheless, I was amazed by how it worked on my skin. The texture was just bubbly and foamy as I dispensed it out of the bottle. Just one pump of the face wash was sufficient to lather up and apply all over the face.

When applying, the consistency was so smooth but it thoroughly cleansed the impurities from my face and my skin felt plumper and supple afterward.

The Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash even claims to retain moisture in the skin without stripping the face of its natural oils and ensures to protect skin’s ceramides.

It’s even free from alcohol, fragrance and any essential oils thus it’s completely safe on the skin and doesn’t cause any irritation.

Although it’s stated to cater only to sensitive and dry skin types, I can recommend this face wash for all skin types as it’s intensely hydrating, free from harsh chemicals and oils as well as guaranteed to grant smooth, bouncy skin.

Pros:

  • Smooth bubbly and foamy consistency
  • Pump nozzle bottle for convenient dispensing
  • Travel-friendly packaging
  • Instantly cleanses face from dirt and impurities
  • Grants soft and supple skin after cleansing
  • Locks the moisture in the skin and guards ceramides
  • Doesn’t irritate the skin
  • Unscented
  • Alcohol-free
  • Suits all skin types

Cons:

  • Quite expensive
  • Contains potassium hydroxide which can harm the skin, in the long run.

Curel Sebum Trouble Care Foaming Wash

Acne has been a perpetual pain for countless people out there. The main culprit that flares up acne is sebum. Albeit, sebum isn’t entirely bad for our skin, excess production of sebum can lead to oily skin which in turn causes breakouts.

To keep the sebum secretion in your skin under control and hinder any breakouts, the Curel Sebum Trouble Care Foaming Wash should be the face wash you should be going for.

This face wash is formulated with components like sorbitol, glycerin, and ethylhexylglycerin which are basically humectants that reward your skin with the necessary moisture while also locking it in.

These elements are known to draw moisture from the air and retain it under your skin to prevent dryness.

On the other hand, the Curel Sebum Trouble Care Foaming wash also contains betaine which is also a humectant as well as an anti-aging component that reduces the visibility of wrinkles.

Similar to the Intensive Moisture Care face wash bottle, this bottle also came in an average-sized white bottle with a pump nozzle.

Dispensing the face wash from the bottle, the consistency was similar to the previous face wash as well. It was foamy and dense and a dainty bit of the face wash goes a long way.

As I applied the face wash to my face it lathered a bit and was very gentle while cleansing. The oily patches on my nose and the impurities washed away instantly and my skin felt plumper yet tight.

After gradually using the Curel Sebum Trouble Care Foaming face wash I noticed a significant reduction in oiliness on my forehead and nose.

And surprisingly enough, I didn’t experience any breakouts afterward as well. Whenever my skin tends to act up and cause acne, I immediately use this face wash to keep them in check.

However, the fact that this face wash contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate and parabens makes it an unreliable product to be used at the end of the day, particularly for those who have sensitive and dry skin.

Pros:

  • Concocted with humectants like glycerin and sorbitol.
  • Convenient to use pump nozzle bottle
  • Instantly wards away impurities and sebum from the face
  • Balances the pH level of the skin
  • Keeps sebum secretion under control
  • Prevents breakouts
  • Affordable
  • Doesn’t irritate the skin
  • Alcohol and colorant free
  • Unscented
  • Ideal for oily, combination, dry and sensitive skin

Cons:

  • Contains parabens
  • Contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate
  • Can strip the skin from natural oils
  • Not ideal for perpetual usage as paraben can damage the skin

How Are Curel Face Washes Different From Other Face Washes?

There are a couple of factors and characteristics of Curel face washes that make them polar opposites to most face washes and cleansers in the market.

These characteristics include the consistency, fragrance, and how well the Curel face washes perform in cleansing the skin of dirt and build-up.

Let’s take a look at the characteristics of both the Curel face washes in detail below.

Consistency - The consistency of the Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash was quite light, airy, and bubbly foam while the consistency of Sebum Trouble Care Foaming face wash was much dense and not too bubbly.

Fragrance - The Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash was completely odorless. Although the Sebum Trouble Care Foaming face wash claims to be unscented, I did notice a slight scent that wasn’t anything artificial but rather medicinal.

This could be due to the various components present in the face wash as well.

Performance - After applying both the face washes I noticed that the Sebum Trouble Care Foaming wash fairly did a better job at purging oil and impurities from my face than the Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash.

It made my face spotless, free from oily patches, and even helped clear some whiteheads.

Safe On The Skin - When it comes down to skin safety, I would side with the Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash rather than the Sebum Trouble Care Foaming face wash.

This is because the latter contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate, parabens, and other sulfates that are detrimental to the skin since they’re harsh detergents that can strip the skin from oil and damage its layers both inside and out.

Which Skin Types Are Curel Face Washes For?

The Japanese skincare brand Curel has just two face washes in its product line which are Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming Wash and Curel Sebum Trouble Care Foaming Wash.

Curel claims to formulate products that are ideal for sensitive and dry skin as well as oily skin. However, both Curel face washes I’ve used have proved to be suitable for more than one skin type.

The Curel Intensive Moisture Care Foaming face wash is specifically formulated for sensitive and dry skin due to its number of humectants that retains moisture in the skin as well as the absence of alcohol and fragrances that make it safe on sensitive skin.

On the contrary, the Curel Sebum Trouble Care Foaming face wash is particularly for those with oily and sensitive skin.

However, both face washes are prone to perform efficiently on all skin types by not just purging the face from dirt and impurities but also locking in hydration, preventing breakouts, as well as maintaining smooth and supple skin that looks youthful.

Make sure to do a patch test on your skin before proceeding to apply any Curel face wash. This will ensure that your skin is ready to embrace the face wash without causing any adverse effects.

How To Use Curel Face Wash?

Since Curel face washes have a contrasting texture they shouldn’t be used like regular liquid face washes. And if it’s your first time using a foaming face wash then make sure to go through the steps of using Curel face washes I’ve listed below.

Step 1 - Dispense 1 or 2 drops of the Curel Face wash onto your palm and rub with both palms when applying it to the face. Adding water to the face wash isn’t required since the texture is already foamy and lathered up.

Step 2 - Apply gently across your face, especially on dry or oily zones to purge any impurities or makeup build-up.

Step 3 - Rinse your face with water ensuring all the foam is cleared from your face.

Step 4 - Wipe your face with a soft towel.

Use the ideal Curel Face Wash 1 to 2 times daily to witness effective results on the face.
