Entrance and Ambiance
The cafe is small and cozy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The walls are decorated with pictures of otters, and there are a few small play areas for the otters to explore.

The staff at Otter Cafe Shinagawa are friendly and knowledgeable about otters. They are always happy to answer any questions you have about the animals. The otters appear to be well cared for, and they seem to be happy and healthy.

Overall, I had a great experience at Otter Cafe Shinagawa. The cafe is clean and well-maintained, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The otters are adorable and they love to interact with visitors. I would highly recommend this cafe to anyone who loves otters.
Harry Harajuku Terrace
Harry Harajuku Terrace is one of the renowned pet cafes and pet shops in Tokyo that’s based in the heart of Shibuya City, Tokyo.
It’s located just 5 mins away from the Harajuku Station and the building is quite massive hence it’s convenient to identify.
When it comes to socializing with otters, Harry Harajuku Terrace is the go-to pet cafe for the locals.
This is because Harry Harajuku Terrace consists of a collection of otters that are enclosed in customized cages in which there are toys and a pool for them to play.
Of course, these cages have mini holes in them through which the guests can touch the otters’ paws.
Albeit, it’s hard to digest the fact that these cute critters are caged, it’s definitely for the safety of the otters.
I frankly lost count of how many otters are available at Harry Harajuku because this pet cafe also includes a wide variety of other animals like hamsters, porcupines, chinchillas, etc.
Guests are allowed to feed the otters following the staff’s instructions and the feed is already available for purchase in the pet cafe itself.
I highly recommend feeding the otters because they get exhilarated when they view you with their snacks and that’s when they willingly stick out their paws to touch your hands.
The staff made the experience in the cafe even more memorable as they’re very amicable and helpful with foreigners especially when it comes to assisting the guests when capturing pictures of the animals.
Purchasing a ticket at Harry Harajuku Terrace makes you eligible for a complimentary drink.
There are other varieties of drinks present at the pet cafe which can be bought via vending machines and the self-service bar plus you’re even allowed to bring in your own food and beverage as well.
You can reserve tickets online or on-site and if you’re looking forward to feeding the otters, it’s advisable to reserve a feeding plan online.
The entire encounter with the otters was priceless and flabbergasting that you’ll keep visiting Harry Harajuku Terrace consistently.

Otters In Rabbit Cafe Mimi
Despite the cafe’s name being ‘Rabbit Cafe Mimi’, this pet cafe predominantly features otters apart from a menagerie of rabbits as well.
Rabbit Cafe Mimi is located in Toshima City, Tokyo, and is not farther from the Ikebukuro Station.
I struggled to navigate to this pet cafe because the entrance looked shabby and that’s not what I was expecting from this pet cafe initially.
When entering Rabbit Cafe Mimi, the building was quite compact and can only fit between 5-8 people. There are a few couches for customers to settle down and right beside the couches are where the otters are placed in enclosures.
Before I stepped foot inside the cafe, the staff made me wear a cute apron since I could keep the otters on my lap without worrying about contamination.
What makes Rabbit Cafe Mimi stand out from prominent otter cafes in Tokyo is you’re allowed to come into absolute contact with the otters thus you can carry, feed and engage with them much more closely.
Moreover, the staff are always going to be by your side when the otters are out because these critters are quite cheeky and mischievous.
When you play with the otters you’ll witness how dramatic they’re because they tend to jump over and wreak havoc.
I loved how one otter snuggled with me and it was such a wholesome moment. There are also bunnies around the corner which usually keep to themselves.
The critters seemed to be well looked after, however, the cafe isn’t spacious for all animals and the rabbit cages were poorly maintained.
You can only buy tickets in-store and choose between a variety of drinks for refreshments. Furthermore, recording of animals is only allowed for a maximum of 10 seconds yet the number of times for pics and recordings is unlimited.

Kotsumeito Ikebukuro ten / Kotsumate Aminal Room
Kotsumeitoikebukuroten is the name given to this fabulous pet cafe in Toshima City, Tokyo. However, this pet cafe is popularly knowns as Kotsumate and it’s located just 3 mins away from the Ikebukuro Station.
I could effortlessly locate this pet cafe because the building was obvious from afar.
Kotsumate isn’t just a pet cafe but a pet store as well where you can purchase an several exotic animals.
Otters are the signature critters at Kotsumate because they’re available here in great numbers.
Other creatures at Kotsumate apart from otters are sugar gliders, meerkats, hedgehogs, etc. If you’re here to take a look at the otters then you’re in for a fantastic experience.
The otters can range in size to color and the otters here are well-trained to perform tricks to entertain guests.
Although the otters are placed in cages, they’re let out by the staff when the customers walk in and the otters race to climb on your back because they just love humans.
If you wish to spend more time with the otters and other furries then I recommend reserving tickets online and also making sure to discuss the rates of the animal feed with the staff which should be bought before you begin socializing with the otters.
Keep in mind that there are numerous creatures here thus it’s best to buy a bulk of snacks for them.
However, the setbacks of this pet cafe are you’re not provided aprons to wear thus make sure you’re wearing clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
Furthermore, the staff strictly ordered us to refrain from wearing perfume because it can cause discomfort for the animals.
However, I'd like to point out that occasionally you can even sense a foul smell from certain cages thus I have to admit that not all animal cages are hygienic.

Otters In Dog Heart Cafe In Tokyo
Dog Heart is more like an exclusive dog cafe rather than an otter cafe, however, there are quite a few otters based at Dog Heart that are the center of attention at this pet cafe.
Dog Heart is located in Shibuya City in Tokyo and this pet cafe is just a few meters away from the Yoyogi Hachiman railway station.
The Dog Heart premises looks large from the outside, however, it’s quite a compact space on the inside which can only accommodate up to 5 to 8 people at a time.
Thus you can expect this pet cafe to be congested with guests and animals that might irk you after a while.
Despite Dog Heart not being an exclusive otter cafe the otters here are cautiously taken care of and fed well.
Apart from otters, there are other creatures at Dog Heart such as dogs and meerkats while dogs are the prominent creatures here.
Most of the animals are placed in an enclosure at the Moff Animal World yet guests are allowed to physically touch the creatures with the assistance of staff.
However, if you’re only planning to see otters then this isn’t the place you should be stopping by because I only witnessed 1 or 2 otters. That was the most disappointing fact experience for me at Dog Heart.
Nevertheless, there are countless other critters that can keep you occupied during your time at Dog Cafe.
As a matter of fact, you’re even allowed to rent animals for a walk outside but this facility is only applicable for dogs and not otters because otters are renowned to be overzealous.
Overall, my experience at Dog Heart was phenomenal, particularly when feeding the otters and other animals while coming into close contact with them.
The ticket prices are fair and even the animal feed was affordable as well.
It’s best to reserve tickets over the phone or online because this pet cafe tends to get busy most of the time.
The ticket prices for kids below the age of 13 are slightly lower than the ticket prices for adults. Make sure to check out Dog Heart’s website for details regarding reservations and more.
