8 Types Of Meiji Kinoko No Yama Flavors In Japan

Chocolate

Now, before we discuss the different flavors of Meiji Kinoko No Yama, we have to discuss first the flavor that made this snack line of Meiji popular. We all know that Meiji is a very popular company that specializes in snacks and desserts.

One of Meiji’s strongest assets is nostalgia which means that since they have been in the industry for decades and decades, people of all ages know and love the snacks that they continuously sell up to this day.

We can definitely say that Meiji’s Kinoko No Yama is a snack for all ages because of this!

Meiji Kinoko No Yama Chocolate

Almost 50 years ago, Meiji came up with the Kinoko No Yama and they started with the chocolate flavor at the cap.

The taste of this is heavily reliant on texture, meaning it is very delicious because of that unique feel and texture of the snack that is slightly crispy but then suddenly the chocolate cap melts in your mouth and it’s a whole experience in itself.

The taste is a good combination of sweet from the chocolate cap and a hint of salt in the biscuit stem. We’re going to give it an overall rating of a solid 4.5/5 because they were able to give a whole experience apart from tasting the snack.

For the packaging, it looks like it was taken straight out of a cartoon show because of the illustration of green hills, trees, and houses at the bottom. A bright yellow sky is also shown in the background with various illustrations of the snack itself in the middle.

The name Kinoko No Yama is spelled in traditional Japanese text and by using chocolate sticks lined perfectly together. We’ll give the packaging a rating of a solid 5/5 because it helps the nostalgia feel that keeps it very famous up until today.

Caramel

For the caramel lovers out there, this is the must-try flavor for you because Meiji also released a caramel flavor for the Kinoko No Yama flavor line.

The taste is what they brand it as, it’s like a semi crunchy caramel because of the stem biscuit. It tastes exactly what a caramel is with the same texture and gooeyness after as well. We’re gonna give this a taste rating of a solid 4/5.

For the packaging, it still has that nostalgic feel and the colors of caramel are screaming through the packaging which sticks to the eye whenever you look. We’d give this a rating of 4.5/5 in terms of packaging.

Strawberry

If we had to pick our least favorite among the list, this would be it because the sourness of the strawberry is too overpowering for the taste of the biscuit stems. We’ll give this a rating of 3/5 because it still tastes okay after a few tries.

Meiji Kinoko No Yama Strawberry

The packaging for this one is probably the best out of all the other flavors because the colors pink and green worked very well with each other and it’s soothing to the eyes to look at. We’ll give it a rating of 5/5.

Chocolate Strawberry

Now, this one is our favorite from the list because it’s just the perfect combination to mix with the saltiness of the stem biscuit.

Make Your Own Biscuit Variant

To cater to the younger generation, Meiji has decided to make it interesting by involving the customer in the experience.

You can choose from a flavor between chocolate, white, and strawberry and you can even mix it together while making the biscuits. The whole experience altogether makes it a solid 5/5 in terms of flavor.

The packaging is very purple because it tries to represent the sweet potato flavor. We’ll give it a rating of 4.5/5
